Grant Program for Small Businesses
For the first time, MBCDC will offer façade and equipment grants for up to $20,000. The grants are available for Black-owned businesses in the Martindale Brightwood area or that have direct service to the neighborhood. Applications open August 14 and close September 10. Businesses must have been in operation for at least two-years. Applicants will be required to present recent financial documents, project plans, and before photos. After the project is complete, recipients must submit after photos and complete an impact report.
Who Should Apply
- Martindale Brightwood Businesses
- Martindale Brightwood CDC program participants
- Businesses that may not qualify for traditional bank financing
- Black-owned Enterprises
Program Details
- The grant amount is up to $20,000 per recipient
- Funds may be used for property façades and business equipment
- Grant recipients must
- Be in Business for 2 years
- Develop a relevant business grant strategy (250 words)
- Meet 1-on-1 with a MBCDC small business staff member
- May be asked to participate in approved small business training
- Complete Impact Reports at end of project period
